Initially a minor noble family, the House of Torrellas rose to prominence under Lord Fernando de Torrellas, who became known for his strategic acumen during the Reconquista. His leadership during the Battle of Santiago in 1098 earned him a vast tract of land and the loyalty of many vassals.
