“Aquae Ductu”
Origin: Lords of Segovia, keepers of the aqueduct city
The lords of Segovia administered one of Castile's most important cities, famed for its Roman aqueduct and fairy-tale Alcázar.\n\nThey oversaw the wool trade that made Segovia one of the wealthiest cities in medieval Spain, with fine Merino wool exported across Europe.\n\nThe family played key roles in the Castilian Cortes and were present when Isabella was proclaimed Queen of Castile in the Alcázar of Segovia in 1474.
