Origin: The House of Montesor originated from a noble family in the Kingdom of Castile, migrating south during the Reconquista to establish itself in Jumilla.

Founded in 1050, the House of Montesor quickly became prominent in Jumilla, with their influence growing alongside the castle. The family was known for its military prowess, defending the region against Moorish incursions. In the 12th century, Count Rodrigo de Montesor led a successful campaign to reclaim lands from the Moors.
