The lords of Elche administered the largest palm grove in Europe, planted by the Moors and maintained for centuries. The UNESCO-listed Palmeral of Elche contains over 200,000 palm trees.\n\nThey discovered the famous Lady of Elche bust—a masterpiece of Iberian sculpture—on their lands, though this was centuries after their rule.\n\nThe family also established the Misteri d'Elx, a medieval liturgical drama performed continuously since the 15th century.
