House of Coca
“Lateribus Firmis”
Origin: Lords of Coca, builders of Spain's finest brick castle
The Fonseca family built the Castle of Coca, widely considered the finest example of Mudéjar military architecture in Spain. Constructed entirely of brick, it is a masterpiece of geometric decoration.\n\nArchbishop Alonso de Fonseca commissioned the castle, blending Moorish craftsmanship with Gothic military design. The result was a fortress as beautiful as it was formidable.\n\nThe family also controlled extensive pine forests that supplied timber to Castile and maintained a school of forestry that influenced modern conservation.
