Origin: The House of Ariztegi traces its roots to the early 11th century when the first lord was granted lands near the mountains of the Basque Country.

Throughout the 12th and 13th centuries, the Ariztegi family solidified its power by forming alliances with neighboring noble families and engaging in the defense of their territory against external threats. They played a significant role in local politics, often acting as mediators in conflicts between rival factions. In the late 13th century, the family gained renown for its military prowess, with several members serving as commanders in key battles against Castilian forces.
