The Almira family rose to prominence in the late 9th century when Emir Abd al-Rahman III appointed them as guardians of Sohail Castle. They became known for their military prowess and loyalty to the Umayyad Caliphate. Throughout the 10th century, the family expanded its influence through strategic marriages and alliances, notably with the House of Benítez, cementing their power in the region.
