Origin: Established in the early 11th century, the House of Alfons rose to prominence through military service to the Crown.

The House of Alfons was founded by Count Sancho Alfons, a nobleman who distinguished himself in the Reconquista. His leadership at the Battle of Valencia in 1094 earned him extensive lands and the loyalty of many vassals. In the following generations, the family expanded its influence through strategic marriages and alliances, notably with the House of Montcada. Lord Ramón Alfons, a notable figure in the 12th century, secured a substantial estate and was appointed as the Governor of Vilafamés Castle.
