Origin: The House of Montelios was founded by Don Rodrigo Montelios, a nobleman who fought in the Reconquista.

The Montelios family rose to prominence in the 12th century, earning their status through military service to the Crown. Don Rodrigo Montelios, the founder, was granted land in Galicia for his bravery against Moorish forces. His descendants continued to serve as loyal vassals, managing the lands around Narahío Castle.
