Origin: Founded in the early 11th century, the House of Garcés emerged as a significant power in the region, owing much to their military prowess and strategic marriages.

The House of Garcés was established around 1030 during the height of the Christian reconquest. They gained prominence through military exploits and alliances with influential families, including the House of Alcántara. In 1120, Countess Inés de Garcés married Rodrigo de Alcántara, solidifying a powerful alliance that would shape the political landscape of Castilla-La Mancha for decades. Their descendants played pivotal roles in regional governance.
