Patones de Arriba

A tiny slate village hidden in a mountain gorge just 60 km from Madrid. Legend says it was so isolated that it was never conquered by the Moors and maintained its own 'king' — the last village king in Spain.

Invisible from any major road and tucked into a narrow valley, Patones was literally unknown to the outside world for centuries. Local legend claims the Moors never found it.
