A tiny village of barely 100 inhabitants tucked into a narrow valley in the Campo de Daroca. Despite its minuscule size, Anento has been named one of Spain's Most Beautiful Villages, thanks to its perfectly preserved medieval streets, a dramatic natural waterfall garden, and an atmosphere of profound tranquility.
With fewer than 100 permanent residents and no major road passing through, Anento exists in a bubble of medieval silence that most travelers never discover.
History
Anento was a fortified village during the medieval period, guarding the approach to the Campo de Daroca. Its church of San Blas contains a remarkable Gothic altarpiece by Blasco de Grañén, one of Aragón's finest medieval painters. The village's natural spring, the Aguallueve, creates a stunning curtain of water and moss that has sustained the community for centuries.
