Alcalá del Júcar
A vertiginous village carved into a cliff above a dramatic bend in the Júcar river gorge. Houses are built directly into the rock face, and some have caves that tunnel completely through the cliff from one side to the other.
Located in the 'empty' interior of Albacete province, far from major roads, Alcalá del Júcar rewards those who venture off the beaten path with one of Spain's most jaw-dropping village settings.
