Zamora
Romanesque Capital of Europe
Zamora holds more Romanesque churches per square kilometer than any city in Europe—23 within its medieval walls alone. The province stretches from the wine town of Toro to the glacial Lake Sanabria (the largest in Spain) and the dramatic canyons of the Arribes del Duero, where the river plunges 500 meters into a gorge on the Portuguese border.
