The Aurora Witch of Javalambre

High upon the Sierra de Javalambre peaks stands the Corona de las Estrellas stone circle, domain of Celestina, the Aurora Witch. Born during a rare aurora borealis over Aragón in 1104, she showed an uncanny connection to the night sky. In dreams, Aurelia Guardian of the Northern Lights taught her cosmic magic. When devastating drought struck, Celestina performed a ritual on the winter solstice of 1107, calling upon the aurora borealis. The northern sky erupted in spectacular lights responding to her gestures. For three hours she conducted the celestial symphony, and rain fell with healing properties, breaking the drought. But the ritual changed her—her hair turned silver-white with shimmering streaks. She became La Bruja Aurora, teaching students to read stars and predict weather. She lived seventy more years, aging slowly. On her final night, another spectacular aurora display occurred. She was buried within the stone circle marked with Cassiopeia constellation.
