The House of Valois ruled France during the late medieval period and had significant involvement in Iberian politics. French Valois interventions in Navarre and their rivalry with the Habsburgs for control of Italy deeply affected Spanish foreign policy. The Italian Wars brought Valois France into direct military conflict with Ferdinand of Aragon and later Charles V.
