The lords of Úbeda, related to Francisco de los Cobos secretary to Emperor Charles V , used their political connections to transform their town into a Renaissance showcase.\n\nThey commissioned Andrés de Vandelvira to create masterpieces including the Sacra Capilla del Salvador and the Palace of the Chains.\n\nThe family's influence waned after the death of their greatest patron, but their architectural legacy made Úbeda one of Spain's most beautiful towns.
