The House of Salazar was established in the 11th century, gaining prominence through their loyalty to the crown of Navarre. Their military prowess was demonstrated in numerous skirmishes against invaders, securing their lands in the Basque Country. In the 12th century, they became known for their architectural achievements, including the renovation of Ocio Castle, which became a symbol of their power.
