After the Christian conquest of Ronda in 1485, the lords of Ronda received extensive grants in one of Andalucía's most dramatically situated towns.\n\nControlling the strategic mountain fortress above the El Tajo gorge, they managed the transition from Moorish to Christian rule in the Serranía de Ronda.\n\nThe family was noted for breeding the finest Andalusian horses and establishing the bullfighting traditions that would make Ronda famous.
