House of Ribadavia
“Vinum et Veritas”
Origin: Counts of Ribadavia, lords of Galician wine country
The Counts of Ribadavia controlled the Ribeiro wine region, one of Spain's oldest and finest wine-producing areas. Their Jewish quarter was the largest in Galicia.\n\nThe family was noted for their unusual tolerance of the Jewish community, whose winemaking expertise contributed to the quality of Ribeiro wines.\n\nTheir castle overlooked the confluence of the Miño and Avia rivers, and they maintained thermal baths inherited from Roman times.
