The House of Elda was founded in the early 11th century, primarily known for their expertise in fortification and warfare. Their ancestral lands were strategically positioned, leading to their selection as defenders of the region during the early Reconquista. Throughout the 12th century, the Elda family became renowned for their contributions to the military campaigns under the Crown of Aragon. They built several castles, including their family stronghold which served as a refuge and command center during conflicts.
