House of Daroca
“Corpus Domini”
Origin: Lords of Daroca, guardians of the Holy Corporals
The lords of Daroca guarded one of Christendom's most famous relics—the Holy Corporals, cloths said to have been stained with the blood of Christ during a battlefield Mass.\n\nTheir walled city, with over 100 towers, was one of the most formidable fortifications in Aragon. The family served as hereditary custodians of the relic.\n\nDaroca's strategic position on the road between Zaragoza and Valencia made the family important intermediaries in Aragonese-Valencian relations.
