House of Burgundy
“Montjoie Saint Denis”
Origin: Burgundy, France
The House of Burgundy, a cadet branch of the Capetian dynasty, played a pivotal role in Iberian history. Henry of Burgundy was granted the County of Portugal in 1096 for his service in the Reconquista, founding what would become the Kingdom of Portugal. Through marriage alliances, Burgundian blood flowed through the royal houses of León, Castile, and Portugal.
