The Beaumont family served as hereditary Constables of Navarra, wielding enormous power in this Pyrenean kingdom. They led the Beaumontese faction in the Navarrese civil war.\n\nAllied with Castile, they fought against the Agramont faction for control of the kingdom. Their conflict eventually led to the Castilian conquest of Navarra in 1512.\n\nThe family maintained French cultural connections while serving the Navarrese crown, embodying the kingdom's position between France and Spain.
