The House of Asturias represents the earliest Christian dynasty of the Reconquista. Founded by Pelagius Pelayo after his legendary victory at Covadonga in 722, this dynasty established the Kingdom of Asturias, the first Christian stronghold against Moorish expansion. The kingdom later evolved into the Kingdom of León.
