The Banū Sumādih also known as the Tujibids of Almería ruled the Taifa of Almería, a wealthy maritime kingdom that controlled Mediterranean trade routes. Under al-Mu'tasim, Almería became one of the richest cities in al-Andalus, famous for its silk production and naval power.
