Almohad Dynasty

Origin: Morocco

The Almohad Caliphate, a Berber religious movement, overthrew the Almoravids and created the largest empire in western Islamic history. In Iberia, they initially reversed Christian advances but suffered a catastrophic defeat at the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa 1212 , which broke Muslim military power in Spain and accelerated the Reconquista to its final stages.
