The Aftasid dynasty ruled the Taifa of Badajoz, one of the largest taifa kingdoms in al-Andalus. Founded by Sabur al-Saqlabi, the dynasty reached its peak under al-Muzaffar, who was both a warrior and a scholar. He compiled a massive encyclopedia and made Badajoz a center of learning.
