Abbadid Dynasty
“Better a camel driver in Africa than a swineherd in Castile”
Origin: Seville
The Abbadid dynasty ruled the Taifa of Seville, the most powerful of all taifa kingdoms. Al-Mu'tadid and his son al-Mu'tamid made Seville the cultural capital of al-Andalus. Al-Mu'tamid was himself a renowned poet, but his decision to invite the Almoravids to counter the Christian threat led to his own downfall and exile.
